Paralyzed at 23, Twin Mom at 30: Daniela Izzie on Redefining Independence & Motherhood
At 23, a sudden spinal cord injury left Daniela Izzie paralyzed from the chest down. Years later she chose to pursue motherhood anyway, navigating a high risk twin pregnancy during the early days of COVID while relearning what independence could look like in her new body. In this conversation with host Jordan Arogeti, Daniela talks about life as a quadriplegic mom, sharing baby care with a partner, and then rebuilding her support system after divorce. She explains how she teaches her twins that disability is neutral, why independence is about agency rather than doing everything alone, and how a strong circle of women, caregivers, and practical help makes parenting possible.
